I used to wear a watch everday. In college, I got out of the habit, relying on wall clocks and computers for the time. After cell phones became ever-present, I used those for the time.

It is sometimes handy to have the date and time immediately available. At some point I put it in the same category as carrying a pocket knife. It's not required, but it sure is handy a lot of the time.

After looking at watches and ooo-ing and ahh-ing over the pretty ones, I instead gave into my inner geek and got a Pebble. After making my own watchface, I wonder if it wasn't my inner geek, but my inner control freak that really wanted one. I get to control everything about how my watch looks, the font, the format of the date, everything. Muahahaha!

The watchface I made is on GitHub here: GotTheTime

Once I get an Android phone, there is apparently a lot more cool communication I can do between the two devices. As is, I'm enjoying the RunKeeper integration and getting text messages on my wrist.

This watchface is very utilitarian. My next one will be silly. I'm thinking roman numerals.
