I did NaNoWriMo again this year. The novel is here in HTML, PDF, and .mobi format.
This was the first year I used a program other than TextEdit or Emacs to write. I used Scrivener. It was fantastic! I'm sure I didn't scratch the surface of what's possible with the app. I like having a section of documents for reference, where I can keep all my characters, names, and back stories close to the text, but not part of it. I also like being able to break up the text by scene. It made it easier to outline what the story was going to look like and then go back and fill it in. Scrivener is also the reason I could make multiple formats so easily.
When I first started with this novel, I felt like I was getting better at writing. About half-way through I lost all my momentum and really struggled. The characters seemed harder to write convincingly. Well, it's good practice, anyway. Next time: really over the top characters and more humor. All my novels are too serious.
