Today I made a small leopard print pouch because it matches my purse better than the blue flowered one. I also made a second blue flowered one as a gift.
I learned that shoving a zipper in between an outer bag and a lining is easy in principle, but difficult in practice. I think part of the problem was that the zipper was too short. I used the size the pattern called for, but it kept bunching up on me. Again, I have renewed respect for anyone who regularly works with zippers. I may try to find alternate closures in the future, such as velcro, magnets, or buttons.
It does look nicer on the inside, though, without the zipper edge being visible. But, the ends of the pouch were messy, just like the very first pouch I made with a zipper. So, I'm gaining some skill in sewing straighter and other mundane things, but I'm not even close to being high enough level to work with zippers.
