Spiced Cranberry Sauce

I thought I didn't like cranberry sauces on my Thanksgiving turkey until I had this sauce. It is marvelous. This sauce gets better if it sits overnight, so you can make it ahead of time, if you want to. Source: Mady Bauer

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh cranberries
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/8 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Wash cranberries and place in a medium saucepan with sugar, water, and salt.
  2. Cover and bring to boiling point.
  3. Cook 8-10 minutes, or just until the cranberry skins split.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in spices.
  6. Cool. Serve with meats and poultry.
