Spiced Candied Nuts
This recipe calls for walnuts. I made these with almonds and it was tasty, but I think walnuts would have been better. The site I got this recipe from says the prepared nuts can be frozen; I haven't tried that.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup evaporated milk
- 1 Tbsp water
- 1 1/2 cups shelled walnuts
- 1 tsp vanilla
Directions
- Put the sugar and cinnamon in a saucepan. Stir in evaporated milk diluted with water.
- Cook, stirring constantly, to the soft ball stage or 236 degrees on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat.
- Add nutmeats and vanilla.
- Stir until mixture can no longer be stirred.
- Turn out onto waxed paper and separate the nuts.
