Peanut Butter Balls

These were a tradition at Christmas when I was growing up. My mom didn't use a recipe, so here's my attempt at quantification with her ingredients. Makes about 2 dozen 1/2-inch balls.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup quick oats
  • 1 Tbsp wheat germ
  • 2 cups chocolate chips or dipping chocolate

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a medium sized bowl until well mixed.
  2. Refrigerate for 1 hour.
  3. Form the dough into small 1/2-inch balls and place in a 13x9-inch pan.
  4. Freeze the balls for at least 1 hour.
  5. Melt the chocolate. Coat the balls in the chocolate and place on a greased plate or pan to harden.
