Brown Sugar Hard Sauce

I only make this to top the plum pudding that I make a Solstice time, but it's very tasty. It's also quite fine with whisky mixed in and melted slightly. Source: The Joy of Cooking Yield: about 1 cup, maybe more

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, beat butter until soft.
  2. Add brown sugar gradually. Beat until well blended.
  3. Slowly beat in cream.
  4. Beat in, drop, by drop, the vanilla.
  5. Chill well.
